Beginners in blogging should be very careful and work on their sites keenly. They should also be aware of all the mistakes that they might be making and look for ways of avoiding them. Here are a few common mistakes made by beginners.
1. Working with the Wrong Platform:
Many WordPress beginners have reported getting confused between WordPress.org and WordPress.com. This is one of the most common mistakes done by these beginners. It is crucial for every beginner to understand clearly the difference between the two and which one is the best for a new WordPress blog.
2. Forgetting to Add Descriptions to Categories:
Descriptions that are added to categories have the ability to increase traffic received through your category pages, significantly. It is possible to add category descriptions on the Dashboard under Posts > Categories.
3. Direct Pasting of Content from Microsoft Word:
Most people process their content on Microsoft word because it’s easier to work with. They then paste their content into WordPress editor, bringing a whole bunch of formatting data which ends up overriding theme CSS. To ensure that this format does not get into your post, you should click “Paste from Word” icon when doing so. If that icon is not visible, you should first click Show/Hide Kitchen Sink’ icon which will display all editor options available.
